What does it mean to be  Called to Grow?

God's word calls us to grow in many different ways. We are called to grow in our faith and in our efforts to reach out to non-Christians. Called to Grow is a three-year campaign to raise money for needed repairs to our existing building and for a new facility so that we may reach out in new ways to those who have not yet come to know God.

What will the money  be used for?

The project is two-fold. We have several needs at Grace Church, including a 5-year plan for a new roof, air conditioning and renovations to the restrooms. We are also responding to God's vision for a Ministry, Worship and Community Center where we can someday minister to present and future generations. Our intent is to ensure that ministry and worship will continue to flourish at our present church buildings while providing a site that will enable us to meet needs and reach people that we cannot in our current church setting.

How much money are we trying to raise and when will I be asked to give?

The amount of money for the 5-year plan established by the Trustees and presented to the Administrative Board has been estimated at $1.2 million to $1.5 million. We are still evaluating what the total cost will be for a future building, and an amount will be announced soon. The three-year giving period will begin in mid-June. We will be asking for a financial commitment on Celebration Sunday, June 3.

What can I do in the meantime to help?

Please pray. Because what we are setting out to do is being guided by God's vision, not our own, we need to remain vigilant about what it is He is asking us to do and to ask for His help in reaching our goals.

What will I be expected to contribute?
While everyone has a different financial scenario, we ask that you prayerfully
consider a contribution based on sacrificial giving, which is driven by faith in God. Any commitment you make is between you and Him, and you will not be pressured to give. King David wrote in 2 Samuel 24:24, "I will not offer to God that which costs me nothing."
How can my whole family get involved?

Aside from prayer, you can design creative ways to give, like electing to eat dinner out less often or designating a jar or envelope and encourage your children to make deposits regularly for the campaign.

Why have we hired an outside consultant to guide the campaign?

This is a large undertaking, and the company we have contracted with, Generis, has a proven track record of success in these types of endeavors. Nonetheless, the Called to Grow campaign is still being driven by Grace Church.

Since we have just bought the Red Cross building, why do we need another one?

The former Red Cross building was purchased to meet existing staff and building needs, including offices for congregational care and Stephen Ministries, contemporary worship and the director of technical services plus meeting space for adult and youth classes and community and church-based support groups and much-needed space for an expanded food bank ministry.

What kinds of programs and ministries will the new building be used for?

To meet identified needs, we envision a large, multi-purpose worship center; recreational ministries for children, youth, adults and families; child-based programs; programs for the elderly; programs designed to provide support for family caregivers; counseling; and meaningful partnerships with other area churches, nonprofits and IUP.
